I'm Hazel.
I've spent most of my life in Portland, but recently moved to New York to attend SVA as a Cartooning major! These days, my art is primarily to draw comics and self-publish them. Comics about what captivates me: interpersonal relationships, music and dance, bleak humor, and cute girls. I try to keep them in stock at Portland's comic book shops, but you can buy them online also. These include my short story collections Curio and Chili Dog Dad, and the visual poem Ci Vediamo, which won a 2012 Xeric Award! I did an awesome faux-children's book too, People of Coloring Book. Many of my comics have also been published in the monthly zine Stumptown Underground.
Before I got really into comics, I had a past life as an acrylic painter. I rarely pick up a brush that doesn't have India ink on it any more, but many of the old paintings remain online for your viewing pleasure. Email me if you're interested in purchasing one.
If you'd be interested in illustration work or an anthology contribution from me (or some other manner of throwing money at me), also shoot me an email!
Check out my art. Comics and illustrations are sorted newest first, while paintings are sorted oldest first.
